Hold down the Alt key and type the below ASCII character code corresponding to the vowel you want, using the number keypad at the right of your keyboard, then release the Alt key. The Num Lock key must be on. Scroll down for what to do if using a laptop that has no separate number keypad.
On the extended keyboards press either Ctrl + Alt or AltGr for currency symbols and additional accented letters For mobile phones and tablets, touch and hold inside the text area to copy the text. You can then paste the text in any app such as Facebook, Twitter. These systems sometimes overlook the fact that not everybody has the same kind of keypad. So, if you are looking up 'Steve Wozniak' in a company directory and are asked to enter the digits corresponding to the first three letters of his last name, you might type 969, 961, or 900, depending on the kind of phone you are using.
