Running Multiple Antivirus applications

Most of all though, running two real-time antivirus services can really eat up system resources and actually cause conflict that results in neither performing their job properly, leaving a computer unprotected.
By default, Windows Defender is running on most modern versions of Windows. After installing TotalAV it would be wise to ensure Windows Defender is disabled to avoid any conflicts.
To turn off Windows Defender in Windows 10:
- Click the Start Button / Windows Icon
- Click the cog/gear Settings icon
- In the Settings window, click Update & Security
- Click Windows Security in the sidebar
- Click Virus & threat protection, then click Virus & threat protection settings
- Disable Windows Defender’s real-time scanning by clicking the on/off toggle. Also disable Windows Defender’s cloud-based protection by clicking the on/off toggle below the Cloud-delivered protection heading, then clicking Yes when prompted
If there are other antivirus applications on your computer running real-time protection, we strongly advise removing them if you are a paid customer of TotalAV. Although most will uninstall in the normal way, some may require downloading a specialist uninstaller from the antivirus vendors website.
